COOPERATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS WILL ENJOY:

  • YOUR COOPERATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM EXPERIENCE

    Engineering
    Looking to flex your skills and make a real difference? Help us soar in the following areas of engineering:

    - Powerplant: Maintains aircraft turbine engines including test, assembly, inspection and repair of engines, component parts and accessories. This team is also responsible for failure analysis, scrap review, engineering research and economic feasibility.

    - Cabin Experience (Interiors & Inflight Entertainment): Support the installation and certification of new components, and the ongoing maintenance and repair of existing components (seats, galleys, emergency equipment, inflight entertainment, cabin Wi-Fi, lighting and more).

    - Fleet Engineering: Supporting aircraft systems, structures and various teams with the repair, assembly, inspection, and modification of aircraft and component parts. Engineers investigate reliability problems and provide technical interface with manufacturers and suppliers.

    - Engineering Services: Specialized team that provides additional resources for engineering initiatives and projects, in addition to oversight with programs such as fuel, deicing, contractor and co-op.

  • YOUR COOPERATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM EXPERIENCE

    Aviation Management
    Put your multitasking skills to the test and work elbow to elbow with our Technical Operations team. Opportunities include:

    - Publications: Publishes and maintains aircraft manuals and documentation covering repair and troubleshooting of American's fleet.

    - Quality Assurance: Provides oversight of our maintenance operations through audits, evaluation of systems and analysis of performance data.

    - Continuing Analysis Surveillance System: Assures American Airlines continues to lead in safety, quality, reliability and compliance in the maintenance and engineering departments.

    - Maintenance Programs: Releases and schedules the detailed work instructions by our mechanics to maintain the aircraft.

    - Configuration Management and Control: Manages the actual configurations of all aircrafts, including all the parts/equipment installed on the aircraft and specific aircraft capabilities.

  • YOUR COOPERATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM EXPERIENCE

    Technology
    Want to use your expertise to solve the thorniest tech problems at the world's largest airline?
    We offer options to focus on the following areas:

    - Business Technology: Support IT needs in business process management solutions and data management. Technologies and platforms this team develops include K2, Collibra, Tableau, and Alteryx. Skills specific to this group include .Net, javascript, Angular and SQL.

    - Data Visualization: Develops new data mining methods, analystics, and tools. Many assignments involve the use of statistical simulation tools (T, Alteryx), programming languages such as Python, VBA, Java and C# and data visualization tools such as Tableau.

    - In-flight Technology: Manages software development and network infrastructure for connectivity and products including seatback inflight entertainment systems, Wi-Fi, and internet protocol (IP) television, Python, SQL, HTML, JAVA script and VB are also used to extract and process the data.
